IMQG members are amazingly talented. While, we (the members) know this to be true, many don’t know about modern quilting. Part of our mission statement it to provide outreach and education on modern quilting. This year did not disappoint.
Over the last couple of years we have hosted our show at a local park. This year we researched new venues and found a gem with a long fence. How do most quilters take photos of their quilts? Most use their fence to showcase their finish. Why not try a new location with this long fence and it happens to be on the busy bike line just north of Indy. Oh yeah, it’s a brewery.
Huge THANK YOU to Nathan at Union Brewing for hosting us and going along with this idea. His support made this much easier. If you’re around Central Indiana, stop in to support them.
Lindsay Conner captured the day and shared her photography skills. Enjoy photos of the quilts in the show.
We got a variety of great questions from the show’s attendees. People genuinely were interested in modern quilting and some were surprised that our members are actually making these. The brewery regulars cheered us on throughout the day. People told us stories of quilts their grandmas made.
A few attendees were just thrilled to examine the quilts. The best part of the day was just seeing attendees smile. People were having fun with modern quilts. Our work here is done.
We had small quilts, large quilts, statement pieces, scrap quilts, colorful quilts, and thoughtfully designed quilts for someone. Quite a range of modern design was presented.
Interested in seeing what we are all about? Feel free to join us for an upcoming meeting.
